Origins of Taste
The journey of Taste began on Isla Mujeres, a charming island off the coast of Cancun. It was here in 2018 that Taste of Isla was born, the original Taste website, inspired by a food enthusiast who had fallen in love with this vibrant vacation destination during a day trip. Taste started as a modest website, created by a foodie who aimed to support local street vendors and guide visitors to the best taco spots and hidden gems. The founder provided free marketing and exposure for small, local businesses that needed more advertising resources. This concept blossomed into a comprehensive restaurant website featuring a delivery service, and a table reservation service in Isla Mujeres.
As the website has grown, it has expanded to include tours, services, accommodations, beach clubs, and more, evolving into a full-service platform for everything Isla Mujeres. With a dedicated team and ongoing projects on the island, the vision extended to other areas. Originally focused on showcasing Isla Mujeres' culinary delights, Taste aimed to take visitors on a gastronomic journey, connecting them with top dining spots and delectable food experiences in other parts of the Yucatan Peninsula.
Today, we have Taste of Isla, Taste of El Cuyo, and Taste of Cancun, with upcoming expansions to include Taste of Valladolid and Taste of Merida.

The Taste team is dedicated to providing visitors with top-notch foodie experiences at both popular restaurants, as well as local, hidden gems. We take pride in supporting small, independent businesses and love bringing unique ideas to life. Our platform helps local businesses in different towns in the Yucatan Peninsula market themselves, even if they lack the time or resources for an online presence.
Since its beginning, Taste has grown into a comprehensive platform. We showcase not only restaurants and local eateries but also a variety of other businesses, including bars, boutiques, beach clubs, unique tours, day trips, activities, and more. We also feature Isla Mujeres’ first online shop, offering beautiful local arts and crafts, and handmade pieces from independent artists and small businesses, sharing the charm of Isla Mujeres with the world.
Our mission is to assist small businesses, support local independent artists, and help the development of unique ideas in more towns and cities throughout the region, giving visitors the knowledge and resources that they need to explore, plan, and discover the area with confidence and ease.
